About Phoenix Reisen
The German tour operator Phoenix Reisen was founded in 1973. In 1988 they started cruising the oceans with the charter of the ship Maxim Gorkiy. Starting as a pure ocean shipping company, Phoenix Reisen expanded its range in 1993 to include the popular river cruises. The four well-known ocean liners are now joined by more than 30 river ships as well as a few smaller ships for exceptional destinations. The shipping company is still in family hands and attaches great importance to a friendly and pleasant atmosphere aboard their ships. Language on board of all ships is German.
The luxurious ship M/S Gloria belongs to the the prestigious Swiss cruise line Scylla Tours. Since 2015 it cruises for Phoenix Reisen on one of the most beautiful waterways in France, the Rhône. The M/S Gloria offers a high level of comfort and a tasteful ambiance in a classic luxurious style. Elegant and friendly rooms ensure the right feel-good factor from the first moment you entered the ship. 80% of the cabins on board are equipped with a French balcony. With a length of 110 meters, the ship can accommodate up to 150 passengers.
Life on Board
Like on all Phoenix ships, the atmosphere on board the M/S Gloria is cozy and informal, with a touch of elegance and luxury. The dress code on board is casual. At the traditional captain's dinner a more elegant wardrobe is expected, but evening wear is not needed here either. Regional events, live music and light entertainment will make your trip a great holiday in France. Board language is German, currency is Euro.
All cabins aboard the M/S Gloria are cozy and comfortably furnished outside cabins. The size of the cabins varies between 14 and 17 m². The cabins on the Orion- and Saturn deck have large panoramic windows that can be opened to a French balcony. Cabins on the Neptundeck have smaller windows that can not be opened due to safety reasons. The equipment of all cabins includes shower/WC, hairdryer, individually controlled air conditioning, TV with video reception, radio, minibar, safe, telephone, small daily newspaper as well as 230 V AC. The beds in the standard cabins can be set up as double or single beds. The deluxe cabins are equipped with double beds.
Food and Beverages
Look forward to a rich breakfast buffet as well as delicious lunch and dinner with regional specialties of the famous French cuisine. The experienced kitchen and service team will spoil you with all the amenities the kitchen has to offer. Theme evenings, afternoon coffee / tea with cakes and/or pastries and a midnight snack complete the culinary offer on board the M/S Gloria. In addition, on many voyages there is the traditional captain's reception and the captain's dinner with a festive menu.
Entertainment, Sports and Relaxation
On board is a selection of books, board and card games available. Regular dance evenings with live music are offered on most cruises. Also Wellness lovers are in good hands on board the M/S Gloria. Sauna, steam bath, whirlpool and solarium invite you to relax and take a break from everyday life. On deck you can enjoy the spacious sundeck with whirlpool and bar service while the beautiful river landscape of France passes by.
Through a variety of shore excursions, you have the opportunity to get to know the country and it’s people along the route. The excursion program is adapted to the length of stay of the ship and is accompanied by qualified tour guides. The excursions are usually in German language. The shore excursions can be booked directly on board or partly in advance online at the shipping company. Payment is on board. At some cruises a variety of shore excursions is already included.
